Ventura CA actually has two other names. Its first name was Shisholop, meaning “in the mud” in the Chumash language. When Spanish colonists arrived the town took the new name of San Buenaventura or Saint Blessed. Both names can have a positive association if you think of “in the mud” as referring to the fertile farmland around Ventura CA, which was enriched by flooding of the Ventura and Santa Clarita Rivers. If your allergies, asthma, or immune issues are making you feel “in the mud” or otherwise under the weather, you can turn to Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology Medical Group for help.
